A Strategic Deployment

Yesterday, I set out to wash a few of my makeup brushes as they were, um, FILTHY.

Typically, I use Johnson & Johnson's Baby Shampoo. You know, the ubiquitous clear yellow shampoo everyone's parents used on them when they were little. I cannot stomach the thought of buying special brush cleaner which I know is probably just rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. But on this particular morning, I remembered that I threw it out because things with the word "baby" on them freak my boyfriend out.

In a rush, I grabbed my now useless bottle of L'Oreal Color Vive shampoo and scrub-a-dub-dub, my Trish McEvoy foundation brush in the tub. Because I figured that cheap shampoo is probably all the same.

When I grabbed them this morning to apply my makeup, I noticed that they were unbelieveably soft! They felt great on my skin (and clean!).

So the bottom line? Color Vive, crap on my hair, but great on my makeup brushes!

I'm just kidding about my boyfriend and the baby shampoo...I think I just ran out of space and forgot why I had it.

This is sort of foundation related: I'm in the market for a new one. I've been using a tinted moisturizer that looks great but comes off all over my clothes/cell phone/etc.

I was considering Vincent Longo Liquid Canvas [supposedly water-proof] or Lancome Teint Idole Ultra [supposedly lasts 14-hours].

Any experience with either one or other suggestions?

Incidentally, L'Oreal color vive uses a different detergent system than the baby shampoo. It should actually work a bit better. But it has some conditioning so even better might be something like VO5.

I just washed my foundation and blush brushes yesterday too and they were SO smooth! I think I should make this a regular routine (like we're already supposed to- eek!).
