On the Move
I'm headed to Chicago this weekend! So, I'm looking for recommendations of places to shop, cool, neighborhoods to hang in and cafes for a caffeine fix! Help me out!
Def shop Oak street. There is a place called Bravco that is FILLED with makeup/haircare products that are all hard to find. It is 2 floors. It is right next door to Barney's New York.
NoMi at the Park Hyatt, has the best outdoor dining experience.
Also if you like Italian, head to Follia in the West Loop. Ask for Bruno, he is the owner. Best meal in the city. There is a lounge right next door that is kind of hit or miss.
Wicker Park/Bucktown is a more "hipster" neighborhood but they recently opened a Cynthia Rowley and have some great local designers boutiques. Very avant garde.
Good Luck and have a wonderful time in the place I call home!
I second Oak street- that's in the Gold Coast, fun area but not much beyond chains for food these days. If you are feeling thrifty- there is always the Bellmont/Halstead areas, which are both excellent for people watching and some fun places to chill.
DEF hit Ann Sathers for yummy tea and gooey cinna buns. There is nothing- nothing like it in DC, it's a Chicago MUST.
Almost forgot, SHOES- Go to City Soles, various locations around the city. Best store, hands down. Its the only place I get my footwear, and that's sayin something.
I love Chicago--it's one of my favorite cities--I'm jealous! The W on Lakeshore Dr. has a Bliss Spa--a Hot Chocolate Pedicure is a must...and Japonaise on Chicago Ave and Marche on Randolf are fabulous places to eat...Oh and Shopping-- in the State Street and Bellevue area there are some great boutiques. Have fun!
