Why Me? Why Me?!?

Ok, I'm confused.

After hearing RAVES about DiorShow mascara from such trusted bloggers as Blogdorf Goodman, Faking Good Breeding and DaddyLikey, I eagerly plunked down my twenty-three dollars (plus the exorbitant DC sales tax...no taxation without representation!) and skipped home with my fat little tube.

But when I started using it, I was dismayed with the results.

First, the brush is literally the size of the one I use on my bangs. I was excited about that at first but then...

Second, I got the stuff all over my eyelids. Everywhere. It was like that Amex ad with Ellen DeGeneres. All manner of careful application and pulling and looking sideways and not blinking versus blinking does not alleviate the situation. Maybe I have fat eyelids??? (The horror! The shame! Seriously? How is this possible?)

Third, perhaps it is merely the vicious allergy season here, but I ended up with whore eyes (where the mascara leaves rings under your eyes, aka walk of shame eyes) like you would not believe. I think half of the Senate thinks I went on a bender over Memorial Day recess.

Fourth, even after I cleaned up the collateral damage, but before the smudging, I wasn't that impressed with my lashes.

So tell me, am I missing something? I have heard such wonderful things and I want to love this.

Help me! I have many functions coming up for which lush black lashes would be so perfect... I feel so lost, so helpless...
Ok, I'm just kidding, I just don't want to leave work and walk home in the pouring rain.

I've read a couple other blog reviews of DiorShow. They had the same issues as you.

I have a friend who uses it and it's just fabulous on her - but then, she already has fabulous lashes. Not that I'm intiming you don't have fabulous lashes, but I know I'm suspicious of it working on my teensy little fairhaired lashes.

I love love love my Dior Show. I have the blackout now, and like that too but its more of a pain than the regular one. I haven't had any of the problems others have blogged about, but I have pretty long, full lashes to begin with. So maybe I'm just lucky? I'm like nadia though, and normally hate the mascars other people like (especially mabeline great lash or whatever in the pink and green tube. . . )

I tried Diorshow at the LAX duty-free counters and I was amazed--I have hardly any eyelashes and it really made my eyes look wide awake and my lashes lush and full. I then went home and took a shower and not only did it stay on in spite of the steam and water, it didn't even smudge! But it came off pretty easily when I washed my face afterwards. If you want to try a different one, try Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara--it has a better brush.

I have short stubby lashes and I got DiorShow a while ago and loved it. Shu Uemera curler and DiorShow and I'm set. If you're having problems applying you might try a coat of another (perhaps waterproof) mascara first, then apply the DiorShow after that dries. I do this sometimes and it makes it go on a bit more easily, and leaves thick lashes.

suggestion: wipe off the brush EVERY time you use it. that brush is so large it picks up a ton of mascara and unless you are blessed with long lashes, its going to end up everywhere. you won't end up wasting much if you do this (since you're not supposed to keep mascara past 6 months at the most and who finishes a tube in that time??) and after a few coats, if you redip the wand, you'll end up with much less on the brush as well. i am addicted to this stuff, but i highly recommend the waterproof as very few things stand up to southern humidity :)

I think Blogdorfgoodman uses the brush from Max Factor's Volume Couture instead of the Diorshow one. Maybe that would work better.

Just thought I would let you know about Glamour Volume by Bourjois - I was talking with one of the girls at Sephora about mascara and she said it was her favorite - I was shocked because I figured it would be Dior Show - anyways - it is awesome, makes my lashes look fabulous (and I am crazy about them - I've even had lash entensions) oh, and it doesn't leave any smudges:) It's only $13.50 too! She also said the Maxi-Frange by Bourjouis is great too

I have horribly thin, pale lashes and have been wanting to try the diorshow lashes for quite awhile, but didn't want to pay $26 from Macy's. So, I bought it off of ebay. I wasn't impressed with the lash brush either... it just didn't cover mine as well as I had hoped.
I still love Loreal Paris Voluminous (sp) mascara the best. And it's only $6. lol

i love benefit's bad girl (i have it in both black and blue!). i'm tempted to try diorshow as i already have big lashes so hopefully it will work on them?

for drugstore stuff i like the l'oreal (or is it maybelline?) xxl.

I totally agree! I bought it on your reccomendation and was sorely disappointed. It now sits in the back of my makeup tray. The Cover Girl VolumeExact is far superior.

I love it! I bought it the other week and I've really been a big fan but I do have the end of the night smudge issue going on. I also do put a wisp of powder on my lashes before swiping though. I have average lashes, nothing long but not too thin either.

I was a Kiss Me devotee but bought the Dior Shopw a month ago and can't sing its praises enough. I have very thick, but very short eyelases and it works wonders and even with contacts doesn't smudge

I loved my Diorshow mascara until I discovered the waterproof version, which is even better!

all of the bourjois products are great. yes to volume, no to clumps is one of my faves.

Weird - my friend bought it and absolutely raved. I really like Cargo, or Kiss Me.

Dior has a new mascara that eliminates the problems of Diorshow. It's called Diorshow Unlimited. The brush is much thinner so it won't dry out as fast and shouldn't make a mess. I tried it yesterday and it seemed awesome but it will take me a couple of days to truely see if I like it.

bought the diorshow from sephora, unimpressed, returned it (great policy, btw)...went back for the blackout and not sure if it's different formula, but i LOVE it...water resistant, very dramatic, and if you just make sure to wipe the brush first you get great coverage!
